The centre i open Mon-Fri, at the time of our visit the person behind the counter was perfunctory. We obtained road conditions for the area and moved on.

We were in a motorhome and Menzies as a town has the bare essentials. There are 2 cafes but these are hit and miss regarding opening hours.

There is a hot food take away and general store with regular hours attached to the hotel. Best to be self sufficient though if you don’t intend dining at the hotel. The hotel opening hours vary so don’t rely on websites or the sign in the front of the hotel for opening hours. Best ask at the general store.

Review not specifically based on visitor centre but the town as a whole....stop, look then keep driving.
Nothing, and I mean nothing is open except the visitor centre and the general store.
Pub not open till 5pm, cafe also closed.
Town has no life...havnt seen one local. Cant get a meal anywhere.

Walk the main street, drive out to the Lake, visit the cemetery then KEEP DRIVING.
Being on the goldfields route, the town has no incentive for visitors to stop. Lots of caravanners when we were here but no where for them to eat, drink, browse.

A visit once, never again town

Friendly staff, plenty of brochures and information. It’s also where you book into the caravan park situated behind the tourist office.

Twice we drove through Menzies and stayed at the caravan park, and twice the centre was closed, so can't comment on the centre itself.
Having said that, when we booked a site for the caravan park, the staff was very helpful, replied quickly and don't take your money until you're there, so that's a plus.
The reality is, if it wasn't for the hotel (massive car park nearby for road trains to stop for a break) and the caravan park, the place would be a ghost town.

The visitor centre at Menzies really impressed us with the quality and depth of content and history that it presents. Its got several rooms some with AV features and some just setup at reading rooms with historical books etc. Probably one of the best country town visitor centres i've seen in my travels. Highly recommend spending some time here browsing through.

The visitors centre is only open at very limited times, closed when we drove through. We stayed at the menzies hotel overnight before heading out to Lake Ballard 66 km away. The staff in the hotel are really the visitor centre they can tell you everything you need to know and some more. Dinner in the front bar is good fresh and hot, beers are cold and the footy is on their tv above the bar. The guest rooms upstair are woeful and need money poured into the hotel to bring it up to an average standard. The only good thing I can say about the rooms is that the sheets were clean, the bed way comfy and warm. Don't expect to be impressed by their standards you will be very very disappointed. The carpets on the stairs and entry are threadbear, there is no carpet in the hallway upstairs so you hear all the workers heading off to work clomping past your door 5 am. The pain on the wall of the rooms is peeling off in large sheets and the plaster falling of around the window, lovely pressed tin on the ceiling unfortunately cracked and black dust and whatever lives in the ceiling leaking through the crack. Fridge in the room don't know what for no tea or coffee facilities no wardrobe or anywhere to hang your clothes no mirror no chair to sit on. The did have a small tv that worked and a fan heater that worked.
