At 67 I was a little fearful this would be too much for me...we went in a group, the day was not too hot and it was a great experience..beautiful scenery, well signposted, not too many tough spots, and you could do those at your own pace.We had some car supporters who brought lunch to us and encouraged us at... A friend and I ( nearly 70yr olds!) thoroughly enjoyed doing this. It wasn't hard at all, we took our time, about 7 hours in all... but that included stopping for a leisurely morning coffee, going into everything we could find to look into to, stopping for photographs, reading all the notices, talking to other people, having a picnic lunch,... We had a brilliant walk across from the Sky Towere area, thr the University area, up to Mt Eden, over to One Tree Hill the D omain, and down to the coast road. Bus back to town. Its a great way to see the area and all the interesting bits of Auckland including the lovely old villas, the Domain and the... More

We did the coast to coast walk yesterday and except for the occasional turns that we missed it was great! You get a really good feel of the city and the various old volcano hills with beautiful views. The walk is 4-5 hours and can be hard for people that are not well trained (16 km). But it is so... My friend and I did this walk and took about 4 hours, with a stop for lunch. Good overview of the city with a couple of climbs to top of old volcanos. Otherwise the walk was pretty easy through mostly parks. Recommended if you like walking.

The 16km walk between the Tasman sea and the Pacific gives you a good feel of the city. Get the train from Britomart to Onehunga and then walk back following the signs. Take a map of the route too though as the signs sometimes seem to disappear. The start of the walk is unimpressive but it then takes you up... More

A perfectly easy walk that leads you through the city, urban parkland, takes in the magnificent Winter Gardens, past historic sites, volcanic craters, along busy shopping streets and residential areas. It's about 16 km end to end and takes about 4 hours plus stops. It really is a great and different way to see the city. There are coloured signs... More

Bring a camera and enjoy your day out, the picture is of one tree hill, which now has no pine tree and is often reffered to ,as no tree hill now days, how ever the coast to coast walk gives you the best of both coasts, where west meets east or vice versa, enjoy

If you love walking through a city this walk is for you! There are some nice spots along the way but the one thing I'd really recommend is getting a good street map before you go cos the directional arrows are very misleading and I'm sure this walk took me twice as long as I kept getting lost.
