Very peaceful place to walk around and take in all the many features it has. The Rose Garden is a must see, the colours are amazing and giant bees flying around. Plan to take your time as there is so much to see and appreciate. It is a real contrast from one side of Christchurch to the other, can only...

A peacefull place for a walk in the gardens with some fantastic old trees & beatifull manicured lawns
It is a very beautiful and peaceful botanic garden. Quite big, I would advise for visitors to take a whole day to explore it, that is the only way to take in its fullness. The flowers are super gorgeous and its right next to Christ's College, a school with a beautiful architecture. For tourists, it's a must see place.
Loved walking through these gardens on our last day in New Zealand. The perfect relaxation needed to remember our amazing time here. The plants are so pretty, but the trees are unbelievable! I could have sat there for hours.
Great to wander around the magestic trees in the middle of autumn - the colours are absolutely beautiful.
We cycled through Hagley Park and gardens amidst autumn colours - was just amazing - bright blue sky, fabulous warm day - this city is going to be something else when it is rebuilt - don't miss it on any visit to the SI - just beautiful and great to see so much progress being made.
There were so many varied plants, trees and flowers and the vivid colors were truly eye opening. The maintenance of the garden was outstanding and the garden made for a truly memorable experience.
The agrdes are immaculate, the restaurant has a lovely setting and you can feed ducks on the Avon River which flows through the gaardens
