Any beach in Dunedin and surrounding area, is alway a delight, even when it is cold. Always so refreshing going for a walk along a beach to clear the head. This is a lovely place to go for a walk, have a cup of coffee or a meal at one of the six cafes or have a swim either at the beach or in the heated salt water pool. A lovely place for everyone. Certainly popular with surfers.

We drove down and parked up. Free parking. We could see why it is popular as my partner went and toe dipped whilst I watched from afar as it was such a lovely day.

Uncontrolled dogs with uncontrollable and aggressive owners. Nicer people in other countries. Beach is mediocre and washed out at one end.

This is a great place to visit and I am not trying to down play the beauty of the area, but compared to some of the gorgeous beaches around the world this one is not that big of a deal.

I have once watched a big male orca swimming a long the length of the beach travelling north. It was probably only two or three wave breaks behind the surfers I was watching off St Clairs beach on the esplande. We eat at Neptuno's when we visit here.

Dunedin beaches (St Kilda and St Clair) are ideal for a swim (if you don't mind the sometimes antarctic cold) - there even is a shark warning bell just in case you're lucky enough to spot one. More likely, you'll come across a few lazy sea lions and loads of dogs.

This is one of the most beautiful, white sand beaches in the World - at any time of the day. At any time of the year.

A trip to St Clair beach once a week is essential to reminding you one of the reasons we live in this beautiful city.
