On a lovely autumn day, this cruise was a great way to spend a Saturday. A friendly captain had a good knowledge of the area and its history. With free tea and coffee it was good to sit back and enjoy the day.

The cruise was much more relaxed and intimate than I'd expected, with only six of us onboard. The skipper was consequently very friendly on a personal level, while still giving all the necessary "formal" information. The 1.5+ hours passed very quickly, and we even got complimentary passes to the underwater observatory. All this at an absolutely unbeatable price. Entirely recommended!

This cruise was chosen over the Earnslaw on our family visit to take advantage of the free entry into the underwater observatory. We were lucky enough to have fantastic weather so we sat at the rear on top taking in the scenery and sun. The only negative point I have is not enough grab handles at the top of the... More

Six of us on board, conditions were choppy so Richard our skipper took a different route to avoid the rough waters. Was very relaxing and a bargain at $25 including tea and coffee and a visit to the underwater observatory. Commentary was very good and amusing

Had the lake tour on our last day in Queenstown, it was the first trip of the day (Saturday), they were only 5 adults and 1 girl on board. Beautiful views and the skipper was a very nice person, quite a veteran already but very attentive, fully recommended.... The person on the counter also was very nice and more than... More

Our afternoon Lake Wakitipu Cruise for 90 minutes was very enjoyable with our awesome Skipper that gave a terrific commentary of the local history and general info.... Tea and coffee was supplied on board...and because we had inquired about gluten free biscuits..Southern Discoveries had gone that extra mile by having that option for us. Well done!

I chose this Lake Cruise on a whim as a cruise on the lake was highly recommended by family and friends. This one had received good reviews and seemed affordable so I went for it. The cruise was beautiful. I had Rowan as a skipper and he was incredibly friendly, knowledgable, and approachable. I was impressed with the entire cruise... More

Cruising around the sparkling waters of Lake Wakatipu was a highlight of our trip to New Zealand. Thanks to Skipper Rowan's local knowledge and professional assistance with wheelchair access.
