We were lucky and made it up to Gellert Hill while the lilacs were in bloom - seriously beautiful setting. It is a good activity after taking a dip in the Gellert Baths. You can walk up to the Cave Church then see the Citadella. From there, you can head down to see the statute on Gellert Hill. Not the... More

Very nice views from the hill. By the way you do not have to climb all the way up, if you are not up to it. Bus 27 goes from Moricz Zsigmond Korter to Citadella, and then it is just a 5 minutes walk from there. You can catch trams 47 and 49 from Deak Ference Ter to Moricz Zsigmond... More

go by taxi up, walk down easier. then go into the spa at the bottom of the hill. It was winter but the paths were very clear and not slippy at all.

After quite a steep climb we were rewarded with some stunning views over Pest in particular. We also went on to visit the Citadel and, in particular, what they called the waxworks in the Bunker. This showed some of the history of the German occupation during WWII and was fascinating. Well worth a visit.

You can travel up here on one of the hop on hop offs but we chose to walk, it really is well worth the effort as from each point you go up you get a different perspective of Buda and Pest. Once at the top you have plenty of seating areas to sit and take in the beautiful vistas, we... More

We were staying at the foot of the hill and looking up at the huge statue everyday was spectacular enough but up close even more impressive. The views of the city are lovely there are old buildings to look round too, food and drinks available too. It's not as bleak as it appears from the ground you feel very tiny... More

It was good fun climbing Gellert Hill to the top, though the hike was more difficult than our guidebook made out to be (it was said that the walk's "bark was worse than its bite", though as a group in our twenties we still found the climb quite tiring). About halfway up you find the Gellert Statue, which is one... More

We purchased tickets for the Big Bus tour which is a great hop on hop off tour of Budapest. This service takes you almost to the statue which is a short walk away. Amazing views and great photo opportunities.

great views up here of Budapest. Up there is multiple picture points! Also there is the citadel which houses a WW2 air raid bunker which is only £4 each to get in, which includes wax works. Worth walking up but if not you can get a taxi or bus.

A rather braising walk up the hill from the gellert hotel but worth it and the panoramic view is fantastic frequented by young lovers who enjoy a drink and a picnic.
