A bit of a climb but well worth the effort. It is quite busy but you can get away from the crowds easily. It only takes 5 minutes from the old town

Toompea is a little hill that hosts several of Tallinn's most famous buldings. Once you reach the top, you'll see the impressive Nevsky Cathedral located right by the pink-colored building of the parliament. Few street away, you'll also see the Cathedral of St Mary the virgin. Most of this area is covered in cobblestones which adds something to the medieval...

The cathedral is located here, there is a park next to it, views of the lower old town were good. Fun atmosphere to walk around, quaint and interesting.
The tale of the Lubeck Law and the Hanseatic League - and the respective, historical differences between Toompea and the Old Town are fascinating... ...and that is not all, the Dome Church is a one-off in our experience, views over the Old Town and coffee high up in the ramparts were all highlights
Walked around this area, it is very beautiful and historic. Quite hilly, but the views are well worth it.
The walk up the hill was rough for flatlanders. We later found another was down the hill that wasn't quite as steep. The church at the top of the hill was beautiful and worth the walk. You can also get there on the Hop on Hop off Bus.

The walk up to this hill along cobbled pavements was interesting, seeing a variety of old buildings and palaces, along with artists painting the scenes. Arrive ealy in the morning before the hoards of tour groups arrive, so that you can almost have the area to yourself.
Super views of the Old Town and out over the sea. A new vista at every corner, if you do nothing else, do this!
The very modern glass towers spoil the charming view and skyline. I would much prefer the post-Soviet era buildings to be lower and more fitting to the landscape.
