Although impressive from the outside I was very disappointed with the inside of the building. After going through security I was expecting shops and decent food outlets only to find all the shops selling a load of tat and cheap souvenir's be prepared to be hassled in the shops as they want your money and follow you around and for... We were on a Pedicab ride on the Natiional Mall in DC and our young driver advised us to visit the Old Post Office build saying that it has the best view of DC even better than the Washington Monument. The Monument was down for repairs at the time. The Post Office is on 12th street across from the Triangle... More

Awesome view of Washington DC, and no charge! I would recommend NOT going over lunch, as you will encounter the many field trips. Many places to eat at this attraction, and they will all be begging for your money. Same with the shops, be ready to say "no thank you" and keep moving! Great spot for pictures though once you're... The Old Post Office Tower offers the best view of DC now that the Washington Monument is closed for repairs. The nice thing about the Old Post Office Tower is it is free to ride to the top. The view from there is amazing. Yes it is a little annoying with the wires but if you know how to operate... More

My traveler's guide book suggested this for a quick lunch and views of the city. We couldn't get past the absolutely FILTHY food court. The grime was visible, food on the floor, grease on glass displays. Completely disgusting. My kid bought a $5 DC tshirt and we RAN for an outdoor cafe filled with business types instead.

The only good thing there is the elevator ride in the tower to look over the DC area. Many many years ago the building was redone and restaurants and stores were added to the office building. That was nice. But it has since gone down hill, unfortunately. The Trumps are going in and rehabing the place into a hotel.

My family stopped here for lunch at the food court on the ground floor. The food was OK, but the real attraction is the old tower which overlooks the Mall and much of the city. There is no glass in the windows, so be prepared for cold and windy up there, but it is worth the chill to get to... More

The pavilion itself isn't that exciting - little tourist boutiques and a food court (good to escape expensive Washington restaurants). The gem of this place is the bell tower that provides unparalleled views of the Capital, Pentagon, the National Mall, and surrounding area. Less crowded than other tourist areas and easily accessible.

As this is the highest vantage point open at the moment until the Washington Monument re-opens, it is well worth making the trip up the tower. Not easy to take good photos but good to see the city from above. It has apparently been sold for a hotel redevelopment so it may not be open to the public for much... More

The tower tour is ok, good views on a clear day but dont go looking for good food options in the food court. As is often the way in the USA you have to go through a security scan to get in, so be prepared to queue.
