The options for food and retail and entertainment outside the Park are very well done. It provide very well priced eating options prior to or after your visit to the park and all keeping the Disney way respected

Downtown Disney is a great place to just walk around, hang out and of course to shop. Although a bit pricey, it is still a fun place to spend some time while in Anaheim or at Disneyland. There is no charge for entrance into Downtown Disney.

Whatever you do, stop and grab a bag of warm Carmel Popcorn on your way into Disneyland/CA Adventure. It will last you (and a couple of kids) all day. Lots of nice stores, but crazy busy at night. We liked the Disney store here the best for souvenirs, and if you spend a certain amount, you get deals on towels, and watches.

If you stayed in the Disney Inns this would have been extremely handy. We had a hike to get to it and it was very congested, understandably so. Although if Disney souveniers are what you are looking for they are easier to get to in these larger stores than in the little shops in the parks.

It's expensive but it's still fun and you don't HAVE to buy anything. There's nice alternatives to Disney dining. We enjoy the LaBrea Bakery for breakfast and coffee and the kids love the Lego Store.
