The taxi ride was fun. The old Lada taxi overheated and I had some fun with the local kids while it cooled down, though the demands of "give me money" get old. The museum is small and slightly interesting. The term "palace" really should called "farm building compound". It was circa 1888. I was assailed by locals who only wanted... More

Ok, we started the day really looking forward to our journey up the hill. We chose to take a taxi to the base of the hill and walk up the whole way. I learned fairly quickly that there is no "path" at all. You just walk on the road the whole way up. Yes, you do see a nice view.... More

We had a morning there and just loved it. The tour guide at the museum definitely knew his stuff, but he was a little quiet and had a thick accent so listen carefully. The church is gorgeous and the palace buildings very interesting. The drive was beautiful and it was nice to get away from the smog. Two words of... More

Beautiful view of Addis from up here! Lots of eucalyptus trees and you can hear baboons howling in the background. Cool, fresh air is a nice change of pace from the city.

3,200m mountain that is the highest peak in Adis Ababa that offers decent views of the city though depending on the season can be very foggy and no value in rising. Hiring a taxi can be an adventure given the strain that this climb puts on the old fiats and Ladas circulating as taxis (ours had a radiator break in... More

I wasn't sure that I would have time to make it up and back, but things worked out and I am glad they did. While the ride up the mountain provided many sights, it was at the summit where you got the real payoff. The view from there is absolutely stunning with Addis Ababa stretched out below you.

Fabulous views of the Ethiopian capital from this serene hill.I went up at dusk and the view then was great but the view at night with the city's lights sprawled below was pretty special.A must see if in Addis.

I hired a car and took a very scenic half day trip up here. It's a beautiful drive. I felt like I was in Asia, not Africa. You feel the mountain culture on this trip. The church and the other building are interesting, and worth it, in my opinion. One of the adjoining museums/buildings in the compound houses some very... More

It is worth visitin, but do not expect anything special. The church and the palace are different. I am not sure that palace deserve that name, but it is good to see what can be considered a palace. The enrance fee is 50 birrs, the guide is available, but at the and of tour (15-20 minutes) he will somewhat discretly... More

We enjoyed a nice walk there after visiting the mercato, nothing exceptional but clearly something people enjoy to do to leave the hectic city close by.
