I loved Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. It is really a marvelous place to see rhinos in the wild. We were very lucky to see them altogether lying down, some sleeping, some alert, some standing. Took marvelous pictures. Walked down the open jungle to get to them and enjoyed each minute with them. I have been several times in different countries in... More

A short but rewarding visit with a knowledgeable and friendly guide. I'm told rhinos are not native to Uganda so it is a little artificial but the sanctuary is definitely conserving the white rhinos.

Thank you so much for your review. I would like to correct you on a point. Rhino's are native to Uganda. There were many rhino in Uganda and were declared extinct by 1983. The White Rhino that was originally found in Uganda is the Northern White Rhino of which there are only 6 known to be alive in the world... More

I had the opportunity to be at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary with 6 friends and stay overnight. The rangers were happy to bring us to see the Rhinos from very close, and appreciate all their majestic beauty, safely. There are more than 20 rhinos currently at the sanctuary and we were able to see 6 of them in 2 groups.... More

A very good example for how a species can be re-intorduced to a country, particularily such a symbolic species like the rhino. Ispent roughly 3 hours here en-route to Kampala. I was pretty privileged to see 3 rhinos, including a baby. The guides were very knowledgeable and the slight element of danger in being within 10 or so metres of... More

Amazing and educational, seeing white rhinos in their natural habitat (after they had been wiped out there and now re-introduced) was an incredible experience. The gentle giants have rangers watching over them to keep the poachers at bay and the re-introduction of these beasts seems to be going very well, indeed.

Spent a few hours here on route back to Kampala, what a great place and so nice to see they are supporting the growth of the rhino population in Uganda. It is the only place you can see rhinos. After a brief introduction we trekked into the bush to trek for the rhinos, the guide communicates with the other game... More

Sadly rhinos were hunted to estinction in Uganda in the 1980s; this is a reintroduction programme, and every visitor to visit here and make sure they spend some money (important work!). It's different from the safari - you'll walk straight to the rhinos and probably 99% sure you'll see them on each visit. However, whilst perhaps not as exciting as... More

The Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary if one of the best game parks that I have ever visited. Why? Unlike other places, you can walk around the jungle with a guide and get within 25 yards of a herd of wild rhinoceros. Guides explain much about the animals while also telling their individual stories. One rhino had a Kenyan father and U.S.... More

The goods: our guide was stellar - knowledgeable and proactive; the trackers/guards spend 24/7 with them and we had a 20 minute bundu bash to the rhinos; the rhinos are rhinos - AMAZING; $35 seems a fair price; The gripes: one could feel that it's a shade better than a zoo experience; however, that may be all we have soon...
