Something to do in Taipei. Nice upscale shopping mall with interesting architecture in great hall. Then take $500NT($20) ride to top of 101 Tower. Wow, very tall and I'm scared of heights. The window washers were outside and I couldn't get near the window from the INSIDE without wobbly knees. Fun place, get a souvenir towel, I use it on my bar at home...great conversation piece.

It's not cheap to go up 101 but worth getting the birds eye view of the city. The entrance is located on 5th floor of the shopping arcade, so you have to approach the express lifts via several flights of escalators passing luxury goods stores en route. Though it was raining and foggy, and the 91F was not open, our visit to Taipei 101 was definitely worth the TWD500 each we paid. Although we had to wait for hours and hours to go up the building, the view was gorgeous. I wish we had gone in the daytime though. Take the free shuttle from the station!

The outside architecture is very nice and it's always impressive to use one of the fastest (if the fastest) elevator of the world to go up to the top (actually only the 88th floor). Too bad the weather was not cooperating. But even with some cloud and fog, it's worth a view.

When I visited, it was raining & extremely cloudy, so the 91st floor was not open. From the 89th floor, I was able to take pictures, and although the sky wasn't clear, I still got some great shots. The fastest elevator in the world. With just a blink of an eye, you are on 89th floor and they provide free audio guide. View the damper on the 89th floor too. Can even go up 91st floor by stairs but you can't see much of the view from there.
