Took the Malayan Tiger train between Wakaf Bahru and Johore Bahru. Nice old train which was donated by Japan. Ironic, or perhaps with a sense of history behind it, Keretapai Tanah Melayu, the Malaysian Railways authorities, put it on the WW2 invasion route. Train is 30 years old but still was well appointed. Fare is very cheap at about US$60... More

Boarded the Tiger train at Johor. In the land of delays, the train itself started late. Was pleasantly surprised to see that each of the First Class passengers were allotted individual cabins with just 1 berth in it. The attendant later told us that there were 2 trains and the ones we saw on the internet was coming back from... More

This was a frequent means of travel for me when I was in Malaysia and it was safe and pleasurable and you got to see things that you don't normally see when in a taxi. Great way to get around in Malaysia.

It was fantastic traveling by KLEA Express. It was really fast and perfectly managed. It was even nice to see KL through Monorail. Fantastic experience indeed!!

We used the railway throughout Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand extensively as it was mush better than taking the bus from a comfort perspective!! We always chose the night departures and paid for a bed making it relatively cheap as it was transport and accommodation rolled into one! Each evening a man with his helpers would take our food and beer... More

We took the train from Butterworth to Singapore via Kuala lumpur. Thought it would be a good idea to see a bit of the countryside and relax on the way. First class tickets were cheap for the 12 hour journey. When we got on we could see why. The first class carriage was holding together just about. It was very... More

I did an overnight journey on the Langkawi Express, from Arau (catch ferry to Kuala Perlis from Langkawi) to Kuala Lumpur. I booked the tickets by email - and I had until 5 pm on the day of departure to pick up and pay for the tickets. Train left at 7pm. We had 'second class sleeper' - first had sold... More
