The Hagia Sophia is always one of those things that you hear talk about when they go to Istanbul or as one of the world's places to see before you die. After seeing it, I now have to say I know what people mean. The building is awe-inspiring and just begs you to look up and up and up when... More

I enjoyed this place more than the Blue Mosque. Walked on the ground floor, then walked upstairs to the 1st floor to view the entire place. The place was very crowded.

An amazing piece of architecture and one can't help but be inspired when inside gazing at the light streaming through its glorious dome. And I love the fact that it blends both sides of its existence: the Christian and Muslim, both living in harmony. One tip: go with a tour group and you avoid the endless lines that may keep... More

I wish that I had read about the ques to buy tickets and then again to get into the Hagia Sophia. I would have purchased tickets in advance. The lines, even before 1000am are daunting. There are many tour guides walking the line offering a guided tour, tickets and a move straight to the front of the line for a... More

Sophia is one of the most amazing places I have seen in my life. It´s a museum and I recommend to spend 2 or 3 hours to enjoy it properly. It´s necessary wake up very early in the morning to avoid the queue because otherwise you will spend 2 hours waiting to enter.

This is one of the place to see in Istanbul, it's amazing. We were in march so lines weren't too bad, it's worth every penny... You can take a tour or just walk by yourself.

Spectacular and unique. It shows the facets of history and religious similarities that are, like this incredible city, melted into one big melding pot. Hopefully the restoration work will help save and bring back some of the work in that place. Go early, the lineups are scary even when we went through which was mid-May.

Definitely one of the highlights of Istanbul. Hagia Sofia (Holy Wisdom) is located between Sultanahmet Mosque (Blue Mosque) and Topkapi Palace and are all easy walking distance. The orthodox church is only 1550 years old, was converted to a Catholic Church and then a mosque. Now, it is a museum and therefore queues can be very long during peak season... More

This place is simply stunning, especially if you think it was built almost 1,500 years ago. Walk around inside and enjoy the history, the space, the detailed carvings, mosaics, paintings. It simply blows you away. Give yourself plenty of time and just enjoy it!

I set foot on a much revered museum. Go early in the morning to beat the crowd. We went as part of a guided tour and we had a pleasant time in the Hagia Sofia. Everything was just amazing - the tiles, the light fixtures, the ceiling, the history. What is not to like?
