On our 15 day trip to Israel, we stumbled across this fabulous home and museum. It was one of the highlights of our trip, only surpassed by Yad Vachem and the Golan Heights. This three story home sits on top of the old walled city of Jaffa overlooking the port. The area is like Being on the top of one... More
Ilana Goor's Museum and art gallery is well worth a visit. She has an excellent collection of African art, (I am a collector myself and it's some of the best I have seen), contemporary Israeli and other art, plus, of course, lots of her own very interesting and diverse work. It is all displayed in her multi story residence and... More
We were with our guide in Jaffa and we ran into Ms. Goor walking her dog. Our guide of course recognized her and after a brief chat, she called her secretary and opened up her home/museum early so that we could see her fantastic collection. She could not have been more gracious and we were so thrilled to have met... More
This is a great little museum that houses the personal collection of this recognized Israeli artist. The house originally housed a soap factory and was bought and converted by Ilana Goor into her home, art gallery and museum. The collection spans African, religious, modern, antiques, prehistoric, sculptures, paintings, old books, beautiful cacti, plants, etc. It is a fun place to... More
This is a museum of modern art that clearly shows Ilana's development as an artist. The building is one of extraordinary beauty, after renovation, and alone is worth while a visit. With so many things to see, go over there yourself or look up her site (http://www.ilanagoormuseum.org/eng/). Browse the shop and don't forget to see the balconies.
Great museum, beautiful location in Jaffa, everything from the art to the furniture leaves you spellbinded... recommended visit.
We really enjoy this museum and residence. First of all, I would love to live here! And what does Ilana cook with those pots??? But the art and decor are just wonderful to see. This was our 2nd time at the museum and we enjoyed just as much as our first time.
Located in a beautiful 18th century house, in old Jaffa, with breathtaking view of Jaffa Sea from the roof terrace. The house was a Jewish Inn in the 18th century, and the first one outside the city walls. In the 19th century it was a home of a cosmetics products family, and you can see the old oven and chimney...
