While I visit the souk, there were two expositions you can't miss. In the jewelry souk, outside before the shops there was a picture exposition, with how the souk was looking like 100 years ago till now. Very interesting, ...a pity the old souk is gone, but with the pictures history is living in beirouth.

Nice re-development of the Solidere area, albeit quite high-end. Seems to be a place that a lot of locals hang out at, even though high-end. Some nice restaurants (also with local cuisine...although we found this particular restaurant too late in our stay!), and yummy ice-cream (aside from the super-commercialized Hagen Dazs).

There is no relation between traditional souk and the Beirut souk. All shops are high end and extremely overprices compared to other countries. Cafes and coffee shops are expensive too. It was dead when we went there and there just wasn't any soul.

It's a special experience right next to old renovated downtown Beirut, for the travelers looking for brand luxurious shopping or just having a nice walk in what is between a mall and an outdoor shopping street ... It's has a special charm with some ruins still around to visit, mixing tradition with modernity... Some very nice and delicious outdoor restaurants... More

Must visit if you like walking around nice architecture and window shopping. I say window shopping because shops in general are a bit pricey. If you have children, you don't need to worry about them wandering and running around as the Souks streets are pedestrians only and really safe. I love how clean the place is and this is something... OK - I remember what is used to be before the disastrous war that destroyed Beirut. So this is most encouraging and pleasant and thrilling that all this are has been so painstakingly rebuilt. Go for Costa Coffee, or ice cream. But if you want shopping deals they wont be here . No one goes to shop on Fifth Ave... More

A lady colleague recommended that I visit Beirut Souks and she was so in love with it that I had to go and see this 'magnificent place"! We arrived at about 09:15 AM planning to have breakfast there. The shocks are too many to enumerate, so let me share a few with you. Starting with a proper entry area; there... More
