good way to start you tour as this helps lay the foundation for visiting the other pyramids. Be aware that if you take a picture of the Egyptians or their camels, or you let them take a picture of you with your own camera they want a tip. They are hurting for tourism and are probably a bit more agressive... More

Nice visiting when the crowds were lower and not quite so busy. Locals hocking wares/camel rides were quite pushy but part of the overall experience. Camel rides in front of the pyramids were quite reasonable prices. $15 per couple plus tip...be aware they are quite pushy and insistant about the amount of tip. Do not pull your $ out in... More

It wouldn't be the worst thing if you missed Sakkara, but it's definitely worth paying a visit. The step pyramid is not what most people would expect of a pyramid, and the tombs in the same place are quite impressing. Mereruka's tomb is the best,

I was in Cairo last month and took a day trip to see the pyramids beyond the Giza Complex. In Saqqara the stepped pyramid of Djoser is covered in scaffolding, but is still impressive. There are some fine hieroglyphics and a roof full of stars to be seen inside the tomb of Pharaoh Teti. There atmosphere of Saqqara was quite... More

Another 1/2 day trip out of Cairo. Considering the age of the Pyramid and the lack of infrastructure in Cairo to properly care for these amazing antiquities, it's in pretty good shape! The hieroglyphs are, as usual, fascinating. You can take a steep, but not unnavigable walk, into a tomb. Further out you can also visit the Bent and Red... More

Many people only come to Egypt for the sun and the beaches or to dive. No matter what, you must make at least one in your life the tour to Cairo to visit this incredible site. What I did not like was the people that were trying to sell souvenirs and stuff. Another thing was the animals you could sit... More

The Sakkara Pyramids or the complex is actually consists of a group of pyramids, buildings and city wall ... One can spend 3, 4 hours to fully explore the place. The weather is generally hot - so make sure one brings a lot of drinking water as well as attire appropriately. Other items such as sun glasses, scarf, sun block... More

They are the old ones and are little away from Giza but not as amazing as Giza. You can go inside also but the stairs are not like normal staircase and carry your torch with you if you intend to go inside

We travelled to the Saqqara (Step) pyramiuds as part of a cruise tour so the tickets were pre-purchased. The Pyramids were impressive but under renovation with a lot of scaffolding in place around the Pyramid. There are opportunities to take a camel ride on site. There are also many street vendors that will be aggressively selling their wears both outside... More

Egypt's oldest pyramid is here. Although it's isn't as impressive as others it's really interesting to be able to see the evolution of the pyramids. There are also impressive ruins to walk through as well as seeing the actual step pyramid. You can also go into the tombs and see the hieroglyphics which are SO AMAZING! The hieroglyphics still have... More
