Don't forget to see under ground palace and Ming tombs museums. You will shocked when you going to there
I was there during summer time but it was breezy during my visit. There were a couple of statues and weepy willow trees which makes the stroll relaxing. There were not so many people but I think the place is big enough to contain big crowds. It is also good for pictures and It is worth a visit.
The trail from the north end of Changping by the Zhengfa University camus to the reservoir is a fun hike and takes a few hours. You can take a bus back to Changping (and catch the subway from there back to downtown)
NIce get away but there are better options if your short on time. Not as scenic as Mutianyu area. A good place to visit - but you need to hire a private car. Pick some apples at the nearby orchards in the fall.
