Breathtaking views, mind resting trekking in the terraces. To think this fabulous location (It is a world wonder) may loose its UNESCO World Heritage classification for lack of maintenance is a shame for the Filipino authorities.

The rice terraces are beautiful and allow for challenging hiking and interacting with local people living and working in the valley. A stark contrast from the many beautiful beaches in the Philippines and a must see.
If you are visting the Philippines and you are a little bit adventurous, you definitely should not miss the Banaue / Batad rice terraces! I would highly recommend a personal driver if you want to make a trip in Luzon and especially if you want to visit the rice terraces. At 11pm we started our trip in Makati (Manila) and...

The rice terraces have one of the richest histories and are among the wonders of Philippines nature. Walking through the trekking paths near the terraces give one a great view of the terraces and great spot for photo shots in the greenery nature.
It's one of the best man made wonders of the world. It was better than the great wall of China and the Terracotta warriors! We had a wonderful 2 days and it was well worth the long drive from Manila. If you are visiting the Philippines you should not miss the rice terraces - but you should use a guide...

For the adventurous and fit people out there,...

The title pretty much sums up how I felt when I first saw the terraces in person. Browsing the online pages about it could tell you what and how its like nowadays. This gives you another perspective of the Philippines to contrast the white sandy beaches. Each season gives you a different impression, depending on the stage of the rice harvest. People are friendly and helpful and you have many possibilities for hiking.
Thanks to Karen P's review, while in the philippines recently we drove from Manila to Baguio then to the mountain area known as the cordillera area. 14 hour drive in all on some of the worst roads you will see but the scenery is impressive and the terraces are throughout. We stayed one night in a native nipa hut in...
