The most important sight of Sofia, worths a visit, also the open antique market right outside at the nearby park.
Aside from the gold on the church (yes, it's real -- a gift from the Russian Federation), this is a HUGE church and very pretty inside. We visited on Good Friday of Orthodox Easter and watched the service taking place there. We are not Orthodox, but were welcome to attend and observe.
Beautiful inside and outside.Impressive icons and atmosphere.Place for pray ! And place to get close to GOD!
The Alexander Nevski cathedral is absolutely stunning inside and out. We happened to walk in during a ceremony, and got a real taste of the church. Definitely worth a visit!
