If you have small children, do not miss this beach! It is my daughter's favorite place in "the whole world."

If you want to bring your kid(s) to a place with a playground, beach, and water, I highly recommend Jettis beach instead. Better view, more beach to work with, and CLEAN water. Many kids have gotten sick from swimming in the nasty harbor water here. There's also more lifeguards on staff at Jettis, a playground too, more parking, and an... More

Too close to the harbor and smell of the petrol from the boats...very busy harbor with all of the steamship authority and hy line ferry crossings....I would recommend putting on a life preserver and hold on to your child and go to Surfside Beach and get a real sense of a beach and ocean and salt water and fresh air.

We went here a few times with our girls. It is very close to the Centerboard Inn, where we stayed. The girls had fun catching hermit crabs and playing on the playset.

There is a wonderful, calm beach for children at this location. Hence the name, I know, but I can't express how much my children love the calmness of this beach, and they love watching the boats go by. And, of course, the playground is always a favorite! overall, this is a lovely experience for the kids.

With all of the great beaches on Nantucket, I would not spend time at this one, unless you just want to assure that small children are in an absolutely contained area. There is a nice playground and place to eat, but the water is filled with seaweed and does not seem fresh. The Jetties or Surfside beaches are the better... More

This is a great spot for small children. My two year old was able to touch in the water all the way out to the roped off swimming area. He loved the playground too! The beach was clean and surprising not that crowded for the daytime. We got a close parking space and it was easy for us to carry... More

If it is hot in Nantucket and the kids are cranky, take them to the very gentle Children's Beach. A short walk from town, playground facilities, calm water, nice folks and a good breeze. Everyone will be happier in no time.
