We visited the Living Land Company in January 2013 as part of our honeymoon trip, and it was one of our favorite tours of the whole trip. Mr Laut Lee and everyone at the rice farm were so welcoming and smart and made for a great experience. We had no idea how rice was grown and harvested, and now we... More

It seemed silly at first - we pay someone to work - but it turned out to be such a rewarding experience. We laughed, we WORKED and we learned. The highlight was plowing the field behind the gentle water buffalo and eating the product of all of our hard work. This opened our eyes to the difficulty of rice production... More

This was one of my favorite things I did in Luang Prabang. Sweet and to the point, it took under 4 hours including transport to the farm, learning about and participating in rice cultivation, and then eating some of the product! I thought everything was both professional and fun. The owner who toured us around was really funny and cute,... More

Having travelled around SE Asia, seeing countless paddy fields, we decided to do the Living Land experience whilst in LP. I really was a memorable day with some fantastic people. Laut Lee has a wonderful talent of instilling a sense of how hard his village works in order to keep rice growing. As well as ploughing the fields and harvesting... More

We visited the Living Land Company today and it was the highlight of our time in Laos. The people are so welcoming and the 14 steps of rice farming eye opening. It was so much fun as well as incredibly thought provoking to use the traditional methods and machinery and not to mention ploughing in the mud with the water... More

Some people travel to see things, we travel to experience things. The Living Land Farm does just that, helping you experience what it is to live on a working rice farm. Stunning scenery -- with lots of photo opts -- it's an educational tour for all your senses. You will be walked through all 13 steps of rice growing with... More

Didn't know what to expect when we arrived at 8am. Shortly after we arrived we were in the rice paddy plowing with "susan" the water buffalo. Next job was planting the rice in the paddy. We harvested, separated , made tools and many other jobs. At the end of our time about noon we had lunch from some of the... More

Had an absolutely great morning! Our guides (who spoke excellent English) went through the stages, from start to finish, required to get rice from plant to plate. Informative but also very fun, it's a hands on experience, plowing the field with their water buffalo, planting seeds in the fields, sorting through the rice, and you get to taste some at... More

This was such a fun place that gave us a real appreciation for the hard life of farmers in Laos. Our guide took us through the 13 steps of cultivating rice. And it was hands on! From leading the water buffalo through the fields, planting, harvesting rice, thrashing, separating the hulls. Our guide's English was excellent and the tour was... More

Try your hand at ploughing a paddi, planting, threshing and even tool-making in this fantastic co-operative on the edge of town. It's a great way to learn about Lao farming and the people who do it in an environment that promotes sustainable methods and creates opportunities for the most disadvantaged in this very disadvantaged country. Inspirational stuff
