Arriving here we started walking from the North end down to the Southern end through a wonderfully complete colonnaded street. Around were shepherds with their goat and sheep and nothing else. Very peaceful.
Don't expect much else than this street though as the ruins have pretty much been cleaned away for use in other buildings.

Afamia was part of a day trip to the Dead Cities and Saladin Castle from Hama. It was our first stop of the day and we arrived there really early. There was no one else around except the 4 of us. The columned main street of this town is about a mile long, with much of the middle having been taken to construct local villages. The rest was painstakingly restored by a Belgian/Syrian team, and is most impressive.
