Although an enormously touristy attraction ( there were dozens of coaches when I went on a Saturday morning) this place is a showcase for what can be done in restoration & reconstruction of old buildings. You would need several hours to explore the alleyways & shops. I particularly enjoyed some modern private art galleries. It would have been nice to... More

The area is a great place to walk about and enjoy the architecture. There are signs which give the history of the various alleys. Also, there are some bronzes in the area depicting daily life scenes. We found an excellent tea shop for purchasing Jasmine teas.

This is another ancient streets preserved and turn into souvenir shops, local hawker food, museums, gallery. For those who travel to china frequently, there is nothing to shout about as similar ancient streets can be found in almost major cities in china. Despite that, I find the local food very tasty. Especially the fish ball with meat and also the... More

One of the main sights in fuzhou, where many famous people resided. A good mix of oriental and western dining options and shops Based on some sites, there is an entrance fee but we didnt have to pay anything Maybe only if you visit the museums then need to pay Not really a cheap place for shopping, but worthwhile visit... it's Three 'Lanes' seven 'alleys' actually. It's a bit like an old Chinese 'Carnaby street' now - too touristy but still quaint

If you only have time in Fuzhou to see one place, this is it. To visit the pedestrianized network of restored old streets and alleys easily takes a few hours to half a day. It is quieter at night as many of the houses and galleries would have closed for the day but it is nice to see the lights... More

The San Fang Qi Xiang is wonderful! It is a bunch of restored (and rebuilt) old style buildings. The main street has shopping, and is hopping from mid-day to nighttime. The side alleys are better during the day, as the residences, gardens, and museums close up around 5/6pm. The residences are amazing! We only went through a couple, and were... More

This is a pleasant, reconstructed area which gets you away from the heavy traffic in the surrounding city. The museums/houses are worth going in for a look around. The shops are over-priced as in all tourist areas, but they're fun for a bit of window shopping. The traditional Chinese Starbucks made me smile.

I am glad that the area has been preserved and there is a good little museum that chronicles the history of the area. The feeling though is that instead of preserving the area, they have rebuilt it to look like new. Its worth a look, just dont expect to see much real history.
