Structually, very good and interesting. Please do not expect to be able to climb up it - its nerly 1000 years old, made of wood, and no nails holding it together! You really think it would last another 1000 years with hoards of tourists climbing it! Spend an hour looking round, and admire it for its brilliant engineering.

The wooden pagoda is interesting to see but not on its own worth the visit. You can see the lean but are not able to climb it anymore. We'd suggest you treat it as a stop off point to other more notable sites.

I agree with others that it is not worth a long detour, but that if you're in the area you should not miss it. It's a very tall and very old pagoda, all wood, and like Pisa's tower, not entirely straight anymore, which explains why only the ground floor can be visited.

OK I would not go out of my way to see it, but if you travelling from the Hanging Temple ( a must !! ) to the Yungang Grottoes ( another must !! ), then it's not much out of the way to see the wooden Pagoda. No access allowed when I was there, and kinda stark, but fascinating how... More

you don't need to enter , it can be seen front outside , pigeons are everywhere inside. It seems that the local working staffs don't really look after the structure like other places .But the area around it is pretty , old city like before

Looking up at the underside of the roof you can appreciate the careful construction. Amazing that it was made without using nails.

The wooden pagoda itself is nice to see and take photos of - you cant climb it though. Its in a nice area with some paved streets you can wander about and get some lunch etc.

You can no longer visit the upper storeys of the pagoda, so it's a long way to go just to look at the outside - even if it is 1000 years old. Entry 70Y. If you're on a tour, this is the best place to have lunch if possible. Lots of restaurants on the street opposite the pagoda: not the... More
