make sure u get the upper deck to have clear view of jungle friends .it will be better to opt the ride at seventirty or threetirty trips this is the time when there is highest chance of seeing animals either drinking water or bathing its very funny to see small elephants playing in the water.

It is an amazing experience – the lake and the scenery around it is captivating. There are two boat services – one operated by Kerala tourism and other by the Kerala forests department. One could take either one of the two – rates are same. If you get onto a double decker boat see if you can manage to get... More

The cruise on Periyar Lake was enjoyable for the wonderful scenery all round with birds perching on the trees in the lake.In any visit to forest sighting of animals is a chance. We could see some jackals, wild boar ,elephants and bison during our cruise. The negative side of the visit was lack of proper organisation and control over the crowd visiting... More

Better to take a double deckker boat and get a seat on top. go for the earliest boat or the last boat. do not go in the noon - it will be hot and animals do not come out at that time.

We arrived early for the first boat ride in the morning as per recommendations. The entertainment began early as the resident monkeys ambushed unwary tourists carrying any visible traces of food. We then enjoyed a pushing scrum to get through the ticket collector and reach the boat - which was entirely pointless since the seats were pre allocated on booking.... More

We saw five elephants, many deer and bison and birds. There were other boats but they kept their distance. Bring a good camera!

If you are around the place, a boat trip on the lake will show you some nature with interesting birds and also some deers and even elephants! but mostly a peaceful quiet trip after hours of driving.
