This temple is one of the oldest in the area and close to the beautiful Varkala beach. The temple is situated on the top of the cliff and a flight of stairs leads to the temple. The temple is not crowded during normal days.

Lovely clean beach although they could pick up some of the litter on the cliff and around the steps. The sea is quite choppy making it excellent for boogie boarding and body surfing. Life guards were in attendance and would blow their whistles if they felt people were too far out/not within the flags.

This temple is history in itself with a beautiful feeling that touches your heart when you step in. However it can be crowded at times.

we went there to ask the priest to marry us in a Kerela tradition. That could not be allowed because since a few years they have a very strict policy to allow only Hindu people to ceromonies (you may enter the temple complex however but not the sacred center temple for ceremonies). Ambi, the temple priest, advised us to choose... More

One of the most ancient temples in Kerala, this is a deeply spiritual place. The beauty of the deity is a sight to behold, and makes one forget all the other trivialities.

This 2000 year old temple is a sight to behold and so is the darshan of the Lord. The praharams are huge. The stone sculptures so artistic it feels so full of life ! The idol of janardhanaswami is placed inside the sanctum sanctorium and can be seen only if one bends down or sits down. It makes one feel... More

The best part of this tmple is the entrance. Lovely stone statues, intricately carved, guard it. There are lovely pillars topped with dragons. Hundreds of stone lamps line the temple walls. you will notice a tree in the courtyard with hundreds of dolls tied to it by couples wishing for children. There also are ladies who play an instrument which... More
