Whenever we stay in Calis we always include a one day trip to Saklikent, a huge limestone gorge, claimed to be the second largest in Europe which would be true if Turkey wasn't only 2% in Europe and 98% in Asia! Nonetheless it is a remarkable geological feature and is an excellent day trip incorporating a visit to the ruins... More

This place is massive and very impressive, worth seeing as the entrance fee is less tha £2. We werethere in therainy season so the river was in flood and only a few "adventurous" individuals were going in the water. Apparently later in the year it is easy to cross and walk several miles up the gorge which would be fabulous.

The gorge was very short but this is made up by the paradise restaurant where we ate turkish style. They had hamocks around a pond which was beautiful we all enjoyed a turn in there, it was so peaceful and relaxing.

What an experience - hard work walking against the current but definitely worth it. Took us about 1 hr 15 min to walk 1 km in total. Bring your swimsuit.

The second deepest gorge in Europe, spectacular in it's steep high sides with ice cold water running/rushing straight from the mountain springs and snow melt. Cool on a hot summers day but be prepared for tourists by the coach load, much quieter just before and after the main season or get up early before the crowds. Plenty of places to... More

We visited on a hot day in May and the water was quite high and fast. A guide took us and frankly we felt it would have been too dangerous without him. As it was my six foot partner was wet to chest level and I was too short to get to the waterfall. This aside we had a wonderful... More

This is a great place to visit from Kalkan (about 20 miles by car) & is where my water supply comes from. The Gorge, is very spectacular & starts with a walkway over ice cold rushing water. The water is melt water from the snowy mountains beyond & can be very refreshing on a hot day. Wear scuba shoes or... More

On a hot Turkish day Saklikent Gorge is so refreshing to visit. With water rushing all around you it has a cooling effect that is most welcome. The pathway is precariously fastened to the gorge side and makes for a thrilling walk. There are one or two bars and restaurants around the car park where you can sit and have... More
