I took an afternoon class to make vegetarian food on a Friday. We chopped, cooked, and ate for a couple of hours, then went for a wander through Little India. I had a really nice afternoon and I definitely enjoyed the food! But it wasn't exactly what I expected. I thought there would be some instruction and we would each... More

What a great day. We met lovely people and learned to cook a fabulous meal. Nazlina is lovely and a great cook. We all enjoyed the market tour where everyone seems to know Nazlina. The laksa and spring rolls were delicious. Nazlina was able to engage all ages and the kids have found a love for cooking. Thanks Nazlina. Wonderful... More

What a great way to spend half a day in one of the world's food capitals. I was picked up early (7.00am) from my hotel and traveled to Georgetown with a great family (Mum Dad and 3 lovely children ranging from 11-16) from my hometown who were staying at the hotel next door. We were dropped at a cafe in... More

We had the greatest market shopping and cooking experience with Nazlina at Ginger and Spice. We were a group of 7 (3 adults and 4 children) and every person enjoyed themselves immensely. We had an early morning start and met at the Campbell street wet market for a local breakfast of roti and curry sauce and coffee. Then off to... More

The tour starts in the early morning. It begins with a tour to the wet market. Nazlina introduced us the local vege, spices, sauces,.... we got our ingredients, then we returned to Nazlina's house in Georgetown. Nazlina showed us how to cook curry..it's not difficult to follow...and the food was tasty!!! We went to little india with Nazlina's friend and... More

Brilliant foodie experience, beginning with a lovely local breakfast before being shown around the market and having all our questions answered. Ingredients in had we proceeded back to Nazlina's school where she helped us make a cracking meal and learn a lot about Malaysian cooking in the process! Would definitely recommend for food lovers

A lovely local Malay woman named Nazlina runs this traditional cooking school, which offers classes four times a week. The class starts at 7:30am and runs until about noon. The class currently costs 135 MYR (approx $45) and includes a local breakfast, wet market and spice shop tour, and a very hands-on cooking class. Nazlina is not only knowledgeable about... More

Nazlinas cookery class was one of the highlights of our honeymoon in May 2012. I love cooking and it was great to pick up tips from Naz about Malay cooking, using Asian ingredients and to see the traditional methods for making curry paste. She also showed us how to make a proper fish stock which I hadn't tried before and... More

My husband and I had liked this businesses Facebook page a few months before travelling and after reading reviews on TA decided to sign up during our stay in Penang - we didn't regret it! It was a a rather early start, but that's what time the market is at it's best and poor Naz has to get up at... More

When in Penang, I highly recommend taking Nazlina's class. You are first able to explore the markets to buy all of the ingredients for the dishes you will make. Secondly, Nazlina explains the history of the Georgetown area as we stroll to her kitchen. She is very passionate about food and is very patient with the budding experts who have... More
