Not the best coral and some fish. Nice beaches. Don't take hotel tour. About third cheaper if you get a guy and his boat.

Great underwater attractions, lots of reefs to explore, a fair bit of rubbish around the surface for a marine park. Some casual cafe's on the islands to eat at.
Was a lovely relaxing day island hopping. Snorkelling amongst the beautiful fish was remarkable, although disappointed to see that much of the coral was dead. No doubt due to the number of visitors the park receives every day.
Superb diving with Borneo Dream Tours and loved the two different islands we stopped for lunches. If we had more money staying on Gaya Island would've been great to really enjoy the tropical island.
I came to KK to snorkel. These islands are ultra convenient. Unfortunately only Sapi provided decent snorkeling with a few new species and enough coral to delight me. The clarity was not great. All islands except at Gayana Ecolodge on Gaya had decent beaches.
We just went to Jesselton Jetty and paid for a 2 island trip for the day. Easy to do and tour operators will discount a little to get your business.
Firstly we went to the small island of Mamutik. The ride to the island was a highlight as it was quite choppy and bumpy.
Unfortunately the morning was very windy...

We hopped 3 islands (Sapi, Mamutik & Manukan), started the journey at 8.45am from the jetty near Hyatt Hotel. We paid RM65/pax (inclusive of boat + life jacket, snorkeling equipment (without fin) & one-time-pay fee of...

Liked the smoothness of transfer from hotel to Gaya Island for one day excursion. Booked with Down Below Divers via Rasa Ria. Great friendly crew at the island - very helpful and informative.
This park offers a great day out. The snorkelling may not be the best in the world, but there are plenty of fish (off Manukan) and some lovely coral gardens off Sapi. Arriving at the jetty can be quite confusing as you have to select a boat operator from the dozen or so who are trying to entice you. Following...

It is only a 15 minutes boat ride from Jesselton Pier in KK City Center. It's good for relaxing and if you dont have much time, it is close enough to just spend a half day.
