There were not a lot of people on the island and the people were really active in keeping the beach as clean as possible. You will see some plastics floating here and there but there are dedicated people hired to clean things up.

short money beach day trip from downtown , jeep+bus+ ferry =50 p or less . good clean air and salt water swimming .
Went over to the island and find it nice. It was a little bit difficult to find a free part of the beach were to relax, but we find a nice local waterfall
Perfect escapade to isolate one's self from the pressure of city living. The island offers a lot of choices from scrimping budget friendly resorts to luxurious ones to commercially developed to au naturale locations. From a half-day at the beach to a three-day affair, one can choose when they would like to leave and the travel time is totally up...

We do love Samal Island but it really pisses me of to see them collecting a P10 'road tax' from every vehicle that comes of the ferry. Few minutes boat ride from Davao City and you will enjoy the natural white sand beach.. This is the place where you can relax and de-stress after a stressful week of work.

When you reach the place, you'd wish you could have planned...

Samal Island is more than beaches. There are waterfalls, bat caves, mountain bike trails, pizza (Precious Garden), a fantastic sunset view of Davao City from a ridge.
I like the fact that you can step out of an airconditioned mall and be in a rural setting in 35 minutes (15 minutes to the pier in Sasa, 20 minutes ferry crossing...
