There is very little to add to the previous reviews, this is truly a treasure house in terms of the collections and the palace itself. A few tips - (1) We purchased a two day pass online. With your online pass, from the main plaza, proceed through the courtyard (past the lengthy lines) and enter the main entry hall. At... More

It is fantastic, but besure to get early admission. Lots of walking! Our guide from SPB tours, Luba gave us great information in every room and guided us so that we did not have to stand in lines.

Purchased two-day pass online. Must print out invoice and go to a SEPARATE line to exchange for tickets. Took 30 mins at 10:30 am. Once you have your tickets, DO NOT wait in the next, long line. Go immediately inside. Will need to put large bags etc. in the cloak room. Take small only. Seemed EVERYONE was freely taking photos... More

This is a must visit in St. Petersburg – it is just overwhelming! I recommend to buy a ticket in advance on the museums website and stay in line half an hour or more before it open to avoid the crowds. The Hermitage is huge with many buildings so you need at least 5 hours for your visit. If you... More

Though the museum is huge and packed with impressive works of art (as well as an exploration of the lifestyle of the Tzars) it is not as well curated as the British Museum. I am not a huge lover of art galleries but I went to the Hermitage because it is one of those places that you are told you... More

Took a two day pass and spent a couple of hours both days. So much to see, you have to be selective. Rembrandt , Reuben , Van Gogh . Wow. And the palace, the opulence, the marble floors and staircase..... Incredible.

If you go to Saint Petersburg and plan on visiting a few museums, this one has definitely to be in your shortlist. Located at the center of the city at the very end of the Nevsky propect and right by the Neva, you can't miss this impressive white and green building. (the museum is housed in the winter palace) It's... More

It is worth getting a personalized guided tour for 1 to 3 people, there is so much to see. One day is not enough.

We had an excellent guide from Alla Tours who knew the place very well and managed to show us a good selection of paintings and sculpures from the collection in addition to the royal apartments.
