Was lucky enough to have good weather whilst visiting SP there fore was able to sit on the sand and eat my picnic and have 1/2 hour sunbathing. Really never expected to be able to do that! You are just like a child in a toy shop walking along, so much to see. You must bring good walking shoes.

Worth taking a look at from the "Strelka" (the arrow-shaped promontory across the Neva). Takes your breath away to imagine the wealth that was behind building all that. . .

When you look across the river and see the Winter Palace (aka the Hermitage), sparkling in the sun. You know you are in St. Petersburg. I had to keep pinching myself - when you have seen this in movies, tv shows, books all you life and you see it with your own eyes. Nothing is better.

Neva bank is miles long, how can one write a review about all of it? Try scaling the ice in the winter, just be careful not to fall in!

The river and canals are all girdled in granite with railings preventing access to the water except at a few boat landings I found on the Neva. Nothing special about the Neva embankment, just a built up area to allow the city to be built close to the river and canals. St. P. IS NOT "the Venice of the north".

The Neva River is an essential part of St. Petersburg's charm. It is a delight to take an evening walk along the embankment admiring the city’s open bridges, the marvellous architecture and the ships as they pass by.

Lovely walk along the river. Walked in one direction one day, came from the other direction (we walked all the way from the Lenin statue -- don't ask) another day. It's pretty to walk along a river. Boats, cruise ships, lots of weddings taking place. The city is on a river/ canals.. how can you not walk along the biggest... More

Offers beautiful views of city scape, the fortress, harbour area, bridges. On your way there enjoy a walk through the beautiful parks in the area.

First drove down along the Neva River and later took a canal boat tour. Enjoyed seeing the palaces along the river and especially interesting were the different landings along the way that were used to disembark.
