The title speaks of what we need. Grab some snacks and drinks from nearby convenience shop, head for the benches and enjoy watching people. From Block 4 of Odori park, you can have a lovely pic of park with TV tower in the background.

Sapporo is a busy town, well worth a visit; and Odori Park is the city's lungs. It is a beautifully maintained string of gardens in the city centre. This time we visited in May, with lovely flower beds, a children's area, fountains, a short run of lovely cherry-blossom trees etc. Easily reached from the train station, and this can be...

It is nice to walk there or sit near the fountain. In summer it is also possible to taste good Japanese foods while enjoying the view of the TV tower.
Nice clean spotless park with pretty spring flowers. Disappointed as the sakura / cherry blossoms fail to spring open although it was forecast to open during the period when we were there. Helpful Tourism booth although the volunteers have limited English managed to have a small chat. Hope to catch cherry blossoms on my next visit. Just directly above Odori...

Nothing much and it's just a park at the central of city. This is the land mark of Sapporo. I believe there should be fantastic if it's snow festival or sakura blooming season. I saw a lot of bald sakura trees around as I am there too early.
I visited Sapporo while they were preparing for the Winter Carnival. There was quite a lot of activity to get ready for the carnival. It was very interesting to watch the carving in action. It was a great opportunity to see how the structures were prepared and the amount of work that went into putting on the carnival.
During our trip to Sapporo in Dec 2012, we had the opportunity to experience the Annual Sapporo White Illumination Event at Odori Park which runs for the whole of December every year. We were fortunate to stay at Hotel Resol which is right in front of the Park. So it was so conveinient for us to walk out of our...

Living in Southern California and Tokyo but having been raised in Kansas I miss the lilacs. This park has an abundance of them if you happen to be there in the mid-late spring when they are blooming.
Otherwise it is a nice, 16 block long park in the center of the business district anchored on one end by the Sapporo...

A big open area in the city spanning about 16 blocks which hosts famous events through the year. I just missed the ice carving display apparently. Still a lovely space with no events taking place. Since they had such a snow storm with heavy snow piles, I took advantage climbing to the top of the snow piles at the park...

One of the main landmark of Sapporo. Not very hard to find it, centrally located. Miss the start of the illumination... departed Sapporo back to Tokyo on the same day it started. Hope I can come back again.....
