This is a very quiet and peaceful shrine. A good place to explore Japanese belief. I follow the local Japanese to pray as well. It's just easy, first bow 90° for twice then clap 2 times loudly, make your wish and bow again 90°once. I got some Hello Kitty charm from here and hope I can bring some Japan luck... More

This big shrine covered by deep green forest and deep white snow. It was very beautiful, atmosphere was so quiet. This quietness was comfortable. There were guide-leaflets written in English, Korean and Chinese near the main gate. If you can't walk about 15-20 minutes, It's convenient to use a bus from Maruyama-Koen subway station.

It wasn't a very long walk from the maruyama koen station. Given that i went here during the first week of the new year, there were many locals who were making their way to the shrine as well. The place felt very up beat and festiva l-ish as there were many makeshift stalls near the entrance of the shrine selling... More

Very insightful experience as, while i was there, I witnessed a number of customs practiced. Firstly, I witnessed 2 traditional Japanese weddings at the temple, which was interesting as it is my first time watching a traditional Japanese wedding (I've never seen it on film or documentary) secondly, The blessing of new cars, where new car owners drive their new... If you are used to shrines that displays grandeur, then Hokkaido Jingu would be vastly different. It is located within walking distance from Maruyama Koen subway station and located nearby the Maruyama Park. I was fortunate enough to witness a traditional wedding to make visiting the shrine worthwhile.

The moment I step into this place, I felt peace all around. Maybe it's the lack of people when I am there. Something to experience about the Japanese culture here; their beliefs. Nice stroll around with the cooling weather...

The Hokkaido shrine is situated in the beatiful Muruyama Park. I liked the architecture of the shrine but was unable to appreciate its religious significance. A trip that is good if one is looking for a relaxing stroll.

Nice to walk around. When I went there, there was a traditional style wedding going, so it was an entertainment.
