The Japan Mint may be famous for its cherry blossoms, but the Mint Museum alone is well worth a visit. We went on a post-sakura season afternoon and were rewarded with a leisurely stroll through crowd-free rooms. Admission is free, as is the audio guide in English. Exhibits are clearly labeled with numbers corresponding to the audio guide narrative. Go... More

Osaka Mint Bureau is a very special place for cherry blossom viewing as its 'cherry blossom passage' is open to public for one week only every year. The viewing period is in mid-April, but the exact period is announced only in early or mid-March. This year the viewing period was 16-22 April, and we were there on the first day.... More

As most would've have already know, every year the Osaka Mint Bureau opens it facility for a week to the public for viewing of late blossoming cherry trees. This 2013 we were fortunate enough to catch the first day of the viewing and it was packed with locals and foreigners alike. Just get to temmabashi station and follow the signs... More

We lucked out when the timing of our trip to Osaka happened to coincide with the one week a year the Osaka Mint opens to the public for sakura viewing. While it was extremely crowded with locals and tourists alike, there are many, many trees and the excitement in the air is truly infectious. As a bonus, local street food... More

Make sure you come early April as the cherry blossoms do not last that long. We were very lucky to experience such wonderful colors.

The Mint is open to the public during the second half of April each year. They have many different kinds of cherries--mostly late blooming. So when someiyoshino(most abundant cherry blossoms) are finished, you can still enjoy late bloomers here. The down side is that it is usually very crowded.

Cherry Blossom Festival at Osaka Mint Museum. Apparently this event takes place annually ( determined by the estimated time of Cherry blossoms blooming) and lasts for about a week. We were just lucky that we were in Osaka on the first day of this festival. The blooms were so beautiful we did not even consider entering the museum anymore. The... More

The sakura blooms came early this year. And the rains came too. And the cherry blossoms shortlived. Good thing there is the Osaka Mint Bureau with their late blooming sakuras. They opened their doors April 16- 22 for cherry blossom viewing. A long stretch with blooms on both sides. What a sight to behold specially with the lights at night.

It opens one week every year for sakura viewing (this year from 16th April). The late blooming varieties there makes it the last spot for hanimi in town. The trees are in full bloom from mid to late april usually. There many rare cherry trees and it's great if you arrive late for the main sakura season.
