I visited the centre during a guided tour with Be Tourist (Malaysia Heritage), and found the tour of the factory very fast. Our guide was moving from one place to another without properly explaining what we were looking at. In the end, it was ok, but I wouldn't personally advise people to visit (unless it is one step of a... More

We booked this visit via our hotel. The complementary pick up and drop off was very handy as the factory is about 15 minutes drive out of the city. The young lady presenting the tour made this visit very interesting. Her English was excellent and this gave us a great peek into the history of this iconic alloy and all... More

We got free pickup from our hotel so check with the front desk if they can book the transfer. We were the only ones in the van, so it was like a private taxi ride. Upon arrival at the very impressive modern building we were met by our guide who showed us around the extensive collection of historical pewter objects.... More

They overcharge . We can buy the pewter items ( same deisgn and metal ) far more cheaper in other reputed places like Petronas Towers or KL towers . We bought it for higher price and later found them at two thirds price in other show rooms.

We took the opportunity during a public holiday in Malaysia to visit the Pewter Factory. The visitor center was open, but the factory was viewable but there were no workers. The tour was free, the guide did a great job explaining things. The best though was the "School of Hard Knocks". We paid RM60 (about US$20) each to have the... More

We visited the Royal Selangor Pewter Factory as part of an organised half day tour of the City. At first I was unimpressed at what I thought would be an unwelcome diversion and told our tour guide this in no uncertain terms. How wrong I was. I had to apologise to him. It is an excellent venue and we thoroughly... More

Found the Royal Selangor visit very interesting. I'm still amazed that pewter tankards are still hand marked instead of using a machine. The staff are very friendly and knowlegable about their subject. The gift shop at the end of the tour is without a doubt the cheapest and best place to buy the pewter. Compared the prices in Suria, mid... More

Take 18 students and 4 teachers and take them to the Royal Selangor Pewter Factory and watch the creativity blossom. At first, I thought this was going to be the usual 'ho-hum, let's do the usual tourist thing' but when we were taken into the factory and we were shown how pewter is made and then were taken through every...
