The menus are from six regional and historical cuisines such as Minas Gerais, Bahia, Amazonas, Cerrado. These are also the subject of our new book “The Brazilian Table” that have been nominated and a finalist at International book awards. The evening begins at 8:00 PM sharp and end about 11:30. We start by serving a caipirinha and Richard Roberts shows a unique way to make it. Next, guests are invited to gather around the stove to join or just watch the preparation of the dishes. Then we all sit at our decorated table and enjoy the four-course dinner we made together, with wine from Argentina or Chile. We end with coffee or mint tea and a tasting of aged cachaça. « less

The cookery class was one of the highlights of our 10 days in Brasil. If you are interested in food, Brazilian culture and history, or just good company, don't hesitate. Book it!

I’ve lived in Brazil for 4 years now, have traveled a lot, and done many different activities here, so when my parents visited me for two weeks, I was hesitant in participating in this class, especially after hearing the price. While this is not an inexpensive activity, it is worth every dime! Robert and Yara are amazing hosts that personalize... More

We had a great evening at the Academy, with pleasant and interesting conversation. The food was good, but it's more the concept that makes the difference. It could have been Excellent instead of a Very Good if the wine was on the table instead of in the fridge ... a petty.

We are so glad we decided to do this. Yara and Richard are such great hosts and we learned a lot about the Brazilian cuisine. We also met so many great people that we continue to stay in touch with. It was one of our most favorite nights of our 3-week honeymoon in Brazil. Can't recommend it enough!

I took my father here and it was well worth it - a highlight of our trip. Fantastic company, great food, and some good lessons on Brazilian food, wine, and history.

I found this on trip advisor and was immediately intrigued. Since this is my first time in Brazil, I wanted to get the most of my time. I stumbled upon Paraty then stumbled upon this. I would consider myself a food person and love to learn anything to do with cooking. We first met Yara when we dropped off our... More

The highlight of our trip to the green coast of Rio, Buzios and Paraty was Dinner with Yara and Richard at the Academy of Cooking in Paraty. It was absolutely incredible. What better way to walk through the history of Brazil then thru food! Yara is a marvelous storyteller, and dinner was out of this world”. When I got back... More

We booked in for the evening, not sure what to expect but we had a most enjoyable evening. Really enjoyed the cooking, the stories and the eating! It is a little pricey, but we had a wonderful time.

I booked an evening with Richard and Yara after reading the TripAdvisor reviews and speaking with Richard over the phone. I am so glad I did because everyone in my group (my husband and I and my parents) had a great time. We learned a bit about the culture and food, tips on how to make a great caipirinha and... More
