Morro da Urca is the first station and monolith on the way up to Sugar Loaf. I recommend it strongly for the parties. There are plenty of special events during carneval and summer on the hill and it is always a blast. Contact Rio Urban Exploration for tips and tickets.
You can reach the top by cable way only or travel through the forest road from the beach. I think it is not for weak or old people because quite difficult to reach the top. But it is worth it: you will see many small monkeys.
After you reach the top you can buy tickets to Morro da Urca -...

We went up on a Saturday around 5 pm as we wanted to catch the sunset, however the clouds moved in which meant that we couldn't see Corcovado. The views of Cobacabana, Centro, and other parts of Rio were beautiful. We went up to Pao de Acucar after spending some time here and waited till night fall which was enjoyable...

Two cable car rides.. and at the top a view of Cristo by sunset, there is no more romantic view in the world
I went to Morro da Urca to see Lulu Santos concert. I had a great time but the best of the night was the view from up there. You can see the entire city and there are unique views from Rio that you do not see in post cards.

One advise: in a hot sunny day bring an umbrella or something to protect yourself from the sun when waiting in the line to take the cable car to go back down. Aviation lovers would...

We actually spent more time on Morro da Urca than on Sugarloaf. It was an extremely hot day and it was much cooler with a refreshing breeze at the cafe on Morro da Urca. A lovely stop over on the way up to or down from Sugarloaf.
