Recently I visited Bahirawakanda Temple for a television recording. I had seen this mountain from many far away places in Kandy town but never had the opportunity to go and see the place. Well if you have some free time it is worth while to make a visit to this location too while in Kandy. The mountain has many tales... More

Enormous statue of Buddha overlooking Kandy. Excellent views from the top. There is a small charge to get in and then you will be asked to make a donation when in. Shoes off and left at the entrance. Well worth a visit.

Beautiful views of Kandy and a really peaceful place. Unless you are very fit and love a steep climb you should take a taxi or tuk tuk to get to the top and you will be rewarded with a stunning view. There are great photo opportunities from all sides of the Statue of the Buddha.

This Buddha Statue if in full white colour and very huge. It was built on a top of a hill called " Bahirawa Kanda". You can see the statue from far away since it is huge and on a top of the hill. It gives lot of glamour to Kandy city.
