Story Trails does a great job of meandering through busy markets, narrow streets and a network of lanes, immersing you in the charming nuances and anecdotes about places in Chennai. There are about nine trails to explore, the favorite being the Bazaar Trail for its energy and delightful chaos. Just the thing to do for a fun, non-intimidating first tryst with the city. Opt for the morning walks because it gets pretty hot during the day. Highly recommended for experiencing the local flavor of Chennai. « less

StoryTrails specialize as the name suggest in telling stories. This year we tried the Peacock tour which concentrated on beliefs and religion. Our guide Sandiya was simply amazing. Deep knowledge about Hindu beliefs and fountain of good stories about daily life in Chennai. We saw a hindu temple, patted the temple cows, whispered our wishes into the ear of Parvati, visited... A visit to Chennai by a couple of Dutch friends prompted us (3 tams) to do this. The trip begins a tad early for a Saturday morning, but we got done before it got oppressively hot. There are stories, more stories and then some at Kapaleeshwar Temple and the Santhome church. Expertly guided (we had Ganesh do the trail for us... More

I took part in 2 trails (Bazaar and Peacock) and enjoyed both of them. The excursions are informative, interesting and full of stories which can't be found in a guide or history book. The storytellers are very professional and winsome. I want to thank Mr.Samarth and Sandiya for the excellent outings and, surely, I'll participate in some more story trails... More

My fiance and I were lucky enough to discover the Bazaar tour in Chennai with our highly knowledgeable guide, Samarth. This tour lets you immerse yourself in the actual culture of Chennai without any of the intimidation of setting out on your own. With Samarth as our guide, we learned about foods and ingredients completely new to us and gained... More

The tours were good and informative and the guide Akila had the right mix of humour and infomation. I took the bazaar trail and the peacock trail tours and found them both excellent. The Peacock Trail ended with breakfast at Grand Sweets which was a nice end to the tour.

The Bazaar Trail was too long - the guide (Akila) seemed to be very set on showing us everything she thought was interesting, despite a decided lack of interest from the majority of our group. After the first 20min many people in the group had started to look exhausted and bored, and were no longer paying attention to what the... More

Storytrails rated well and so we decided, having only 1 full day in Chennai and our first time in India, that we would request a tour. I found communication by email friendly and prompt, while our tour was being organised. Both Samarth and Sandiya were extremely helpful and proactive in assisting us, so much so, that by the time we... More

The opportunity to plunge into the craziness of the Bazaar with an experienced guide who can explain exactly what's going on, is well worth it. Our guide was friendly, patient, well informed and did a good job keeping us all together in a manic environment. I have walked through similar bazaars in other cities but found that the stories that... More

After a lot of correspondence we settled for the Chennai Medley, in this case a combination of Peacock Trail and Mystic Trail. The Peacock Trail was supposed to include the Kapaleshwar Temple and Santhome Basilica. What I failed to realize was that by adding the Mystic Trail, we didn't get to see more places. We spent two and a half... More

This is a tour that makes all the difference. We took the Bazaar Tour and the Chennai Medley and highly recommend both. Storytrails guides are fantastic.
