Its a settlement for Portuguese descent people in Melaka, by the Straits of Melaka. The only place you can spend time, is at the sea front square. Its adjacent to a big food stall square where you may be swarmed by peddlers. We chose restaurants away from this ultra-noisy area, like San Pedro, Lisbon Restaurant which is just a stones... More

This is the second time that we have dined at Portuguese Settlement. The first time we had our seafood dinner at stall #1, this time round we decided to give stall #2 - Joan & El Chico's, a try. We ordered some veggies, butter garlic scallops (delicious, had wished they were bigger!), asam sotong (tastes of tangerine and is sweet)... More

We ate at #3 last week because we didn't know which ones are nicer and the staff kept persuading us. It was fine and the price was okay. But this time we got some advice from words of mouth and decided to go to#5. It was the most delicious Portuguese baked fish and butter garlic crab i have ever tasted.... More

First of all, it's known as Portuguese Settlement to locals. We ate at stall #2. We would definitely go back! Everything was delicious! My personal favorites were scallops, baked fish and eggplant. My brother-in-law's fave was the sweet and sour crab. My son's fave were both crabs and baked fish. We ordered a lot because two of us like spicy... More

Many reviews recommended Stall 1, I just think their food is overrated. The ikan bakar was tasteless except spicy. Sambal Prawn was ok. Vege was too oily. Didn't order crab because out of stock. Overall, food was ok and just don't put too high expectation. Price? A bit Higher than other local seafood restaurant but expected in this kind of traveller... More

There is absolutely nothing to see in this place. We rode our rental bikes until this place and it wasn´t worthy at all... don´t recommend anyone to go this place.

We wanted to see all the cultural pools in Melaka for having many cultures and religions live side by side is a crucial feature of the city, the culture and the people. We went by taxi to the Portuguese Square and didn't see much of anything but perhaps this is because I didn't know what I was looking at. However,... More

There was nothing to see, sea view was average, and too many hecklers to even think of eating there. Plus, it's a major inconvinience if you don't have a vehicle to get there (I walked all the way back to downtown , and did not even see 1 taxi drive by. That's close to 5 KM, based on my walking... A nice place for seafood and fantastic sea view. Wonderful mango shake. But it's not stall no.1 that is good but it's the last stall that is value for money. Not really portugese food but if you want seafood they serve you right. Saw some horseshoe crabs but didn't dare to try. However, all these wonderful experience depends strongly on... More
