We did not know what to expect, after spending an entire day at Montgomery's Big Brother: Birmingham, and its art museum. However, this one was every bit as good. It is incredibly impressive, just walking in the front door, and gazing down the long hallway. Excellent permanent collection, and Fowler's special exhibition of art glass was superb.
Always relaxing, beautiful place, but my boys are vocal. Anything that strikes them to share is going to be known. They do better in libraries than museums!
This museum offers a wonderful combination of fine art and children's art related hands-on activities! We were only in the Montgomery area for a weekend and were very happy we chose this as a place to visit. The grounds surrounding the museum are beautiful, as well.
Unbelievable works here in Montgomery. Docents here to help you and listen to what you may be able to contribute. It will surprise you and thrill you. Children have there own sections and you will be amazed at what they contributed. The grounds are also great. A place for everyone to enjoy.
Went today and say Stephen Rolfe Powell's art exhibit. Wonderful but only there until 1/6/2013 Plenty of oil paintings, porcelain and other art work available to see. They also have a great studio to encourage kids art.
When I have out of town company, I always try to work in a visit to the museum for my visitors. It is a beautiful building in the fantastic setting of Blount Cultural Park. Mr. Winton Blount donated his collection of American artists to the museum...it is amazing to see famous work of art right here in little ol' Montgomery....

This is a marvelous museum of primarily 19th century and modern art, with changing exhibitions; one employee was particularly helpful and informative. The museum is set on beautiful grounds perfect for strolling. I highly recommend this museum!
They only serve lunch but Velma's Chicken Salad is great!! The service was good and my friend had soup and salad and it was also great.
