dont miss it... water are cool.. wateralls are amazing..... many stairs but was worth it!!! take food and water and have a picnic!!! no restroom down at the falls!!!

This is a must do if you are staying close to LaFortuna. The hike took less than an hour and it is strenuous, think stairmaster with a view! But the reward at the bottom is well worth it. We went to the waterfall when we first got to La Fortuna. We drove to the parking lot and it was a easy hike down to the fall with great views of the fall and the jungle. We were rewarded with a great swim in the lower part of the fall with gorgeous views of the fall and it's crystal... More

we went horseback riding from la fortuna the hiking up and down can be a little hard but the place is beautiful

A lot of steps down to a fantastic waterfall. You can swim beneath the waterfall itself and also in the river a bit further down. Unless you are particularly unfit the steps are not an issue, and there's even a rest bench half way.

Not so sure about the 400 steps up though. No picture I've seen truly captures the scale of this awe inspiring waterfall. Easy hike down to an amazing waterfall/pool. The scenery was amazing. The waterfall was awesome in person. The water was cold but worth it to swim near a waterfall.
