I was so looking forward to this tour. It started out very informative but then the skies opened up and there was a tropical heavy rain storm. They continued the walking tour with only some flimsy plastic covers and a few umbrellas. We couldn't hear a thing as it was a large tour. They should limit the number of people... More

We had done a coffee-chocolate-sugar cane tour while in Monteverde which we LOVED-it was very interactive, informative, and an overall great experience and great value at $30/person. Our previous experience, along with my love of cooking made me very excited for this tour and persuaded me to take the $50 plunge. While you do receive some good information about vanilla... More

While you're doing all the wildlife and adrenaline tours around Manuel Antonio, make sure you also find time for this one. We did the morning tour on 30 May and our guide was brilliant - she was very friendly, knowledgeable and made sure we had a great tour. Started with half an hour or so showing us various spices at... The teenage guide was really informative and interesting, answering all our questions. So much about spices we did not know. The setting is really beautiful. With tastings and recipes to go away with we had a great time. The price includes transfers from and back to the hotel so I dont think the tour cost was high.

I HATE writing bad reviews but I'm hoping to help others avoid a mediocre experience. For the $50/pp I felt this tour was lacking in a variety of ways. First the pros: The short intro explaining how the spices, coco, and vanilla are harvested was interesting, and the grounds are nice. Near the end of the tour there is an... More

So i visited here on 25th May 2013 and did the 2pm afternoon tour. I would like to start with the positives, the gardens are amazing, so much wildlife the plants as so pritty and I really enjoyed looking around. So that's it on the positives first of all our driver was 30 mins late picking us up (which I... More

I enjoyed this tour! It was raining (start of monsoon season) and the plantation had extra umbrellas for people who didn't have one. The plantation only accepts cash so bring plenty. The tour explains why spices are costly - a lot goes into growing and preparing them. The tour includes delicious snacks made with spices grown on the plantation (cheesecake... More

Visited the farm to learn more about spices and biodiverse farming. Our tour consisted of 10 people, probably because we visited on Monday, the one day Manuel Antonio Park is closed. Even with 10, however, the group didn't feel too big. As our guide explained the various processes behind the different spices we came to develop a new appreciation for... More

We drove out to the plantation as we did not have time for the tour but wanted to purchase some spices. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were greeted when we arrived and they took us to the gift shop where we were able to look over all the spices available. They were kind enough to bring us... More

We really enjoyed our trip to Villa Vanilla. We've hiked, done zip lines, rafted, and engaged in a lot of adventure activities, so it was fun to do something a little different and visit this beautiful spice farm to see where spices come from and how they are grown. We spent about two and a half hours walking through this... More
