Didn't actually do the trip as advised by hotel staff not to. Stories on someone dying are true and there are loose rocks etc. until someone posts someone to say that these rocks have been somehow cleared it just shouldn't be visited. I would suggest that however oversees the waterfall posts something once they think it is safe?

A really lovely waterfall and a nice hike to get to it, the sheer scale of it is breathtaking. Once we arrived my boyfriend and I had a refreshing dip in the cool waters, it felt very remote and we hardly saw another person there the whole time, really peaceful and lovely.

after i saw one of the last review "we almost died, no jokes" , i think that it's important to wrote what happened one day after..... really bad news...a woman died in the waterfall, she was with a group of studends and some rocks falling killed her. really bad if we think that the authority (minae) asked at the owner... Perhaps we are just people who don't appreciate a good waterfall when we see one but didn't think this lived up to the reviews at all. The walk is short so you don't feel, like you've had a good hike and when you get there it's a fairly average waterfall. Not worth the cost of entry although it should be noted... More

NOTE: THIS HIKE HAS VERY SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS AT THIS MOMENT DUE TO ROCK INSTABILITY FOLLOWING THE LARGE CR EARTHQUAKE A FEW MONTHS AGO!!!! My parents, my sister and I decided to take a trip up to the Monteverde/Santa Elena Cloud Forests on March 6-7, 2013. We arrived in Monteverde at 130pm on March 6 and decided to check out... More

I liked that there was a short (about 30min) hike with small walkways meandering across a river to reach the waterfall. You can swim in the small waterfall pool but it is very cold. The view of the waterfall was nice, but I was not overly amazed especially for the price of $10. For that price there could be some... More

“Wonderful birding spot” During our January visit we were unable to reach the waterfall due to some trail repair. We did enjoy a lovely walk on the forest trail to the work site. The trail is now open to the falls. The highlight was sitting near the feeders at the start of the trail and watching the show of colorful... More

A beautiful hike down the mountain of Monteverde! I recommend hiking down the Trocha, the view is gorgeous and the small San Luis town has a totally different ambiance from Monteverde. A beautiful day trip. It would be good to call a cab back up the mountain. The house at the entrance to the waterfall is beautiful. Alicia, who owns... More

After 45 minutes of good walking in the middle of the mountain, around the little river, with a wet tropical weather very sunny and with high humidity, but with well made trails, some kind of stairs -for an easiest access- you finally get into a beautiful waterfall, with very cold water. After come back, there are natural drinks, fruit juice,... More

My partner and I had had a poor experience at one of the organised cloud forest sites, so we needed an interesting activity for the afternoon. We saw it on the map and set off on a 2+ hour walk down hill. Had no idea what to expect. It was down a long long road with amazing views of the... More
