If there is one thing that you have the time to do in Juneau, hike the glacier. You won't forget it! It's been a couple of years since we did the hike in May 2011. But loved the experience. Above & Beyond Alaska were great! We just wanted to thank them again for a great hike! It was easily the... More

We booked the guided hike of Mendenhall, but due to its being early in the season, we were the only clients. It was a wonderful day. The guide was awesome, patient and helpful. We never felt like the tour was compromised because there were only 2 clients. Mendenhall was unforgettable, and both our memories and pictures will last a lifetime.... More

After doing a lot of research on what would be the best adventure in Juneau and even running across the "Queen" of feedback that offered great advice through different message boards I concluded that this tour was the tour for me and hopefully my wife as well. I talked my wife into experiencing what Above and Beyind had to offer... More

We absolutely loved our experience with above and beyond. We had 6 of us ranging in age from 8 to 51. Kayaking is absolutely the best way to see the Mendenhall glacier. Far better than hiking to the waterfall from the visitor center. We had several groups express their jealousy of not doing the same thing. Kayaking between icebergs is... More

What an adventure!!! I booked the private hike tour of Mendenhall Glacier which included the ice wall climb. This was an excursion since we were also on a cruise that week. The bus picked us up and we headed to the trailhead. Use the restroom before getting in the van; only port-o-potties at the trailhead. Caution: Do not attempt this... More

My husband and I recently did the sea kayaking and whale watching trip. We absolutely loved it! The guides were awesome, professional and very knowledgable. We loved the small group (there were just 5 of us). We saw all sorts of wildlife (humpback whales, killer whales, seals, sea lions and bald eagles). The scenery was just amazing. We really loved... My partner and I recently took this trip while in Juneau prior to joining a small ship cruise. We were a little hesitant at the price, but decided that we really wanted to see bears and hopefully they would also be catching fish. I had joked before we left home that the tour had cost us 'an arm and 3... More

We did the Mendenhall Lake self-guided kayaking in early September, arriving in Juneau around 2pm on a large cruise ship. First, the experience was great despite the light drizzle and fog. One advantage of that weather was that the helicopter tours were unable to go, so we didn't have that noise. It was amazing to get even within a few... More

After realizing how cheap I am, I resorted to the fact that I was not going on any excursions during my Alaska cruise. After some friends of mine returned from their cruise in May, and relating all their experiences, I decided I needed to do something. But I was not paying hundreds of dollars for a brief helicopter ride and... More

After searching the internet, decided we wanted to kayak with the glaciers. Above and Beyond Alaska proved to be a reliable and friendly outfit. Went kayaking at Mendenhall Glacier lake. Above and Beyond Alaska were the only ones authorized to allow kayaks in this lake so our group of only four kayakers were at the lake which made it a... More
