Umhlanga is worth the short drive from Durban. It's a nice coastal town with a very nice beach, lighthouse and cool jetty.

We have friends in Umhlanga, so we visit restaurants and the beaches in Umhlanga regularly. There is a permanent holiday vibe in Umhlanga and we thoroughly enjoy our visits.

Lots of nice hotels, cocktail bars, spas and restaurants. A little safer to go out at night than Durban.

THis is where our time on the beach was spent....and of course as always being on the beach in December can be a little overwhelming...however our experience was to the contrary...the beach was not overcrowded and in general was most enjoyable including all the surrounding facilities..

Whether you are shopping, strolling along the promenade, lunching in a sidewalk cafe or having high tea at the Oyster Box there is something for everyone. Be sure to swim in the demarcated areas when at the beach, as the waves there are not for sissies!!

Much quieter than Durban and the Golden Mile and close to Gateway shopping centre. Fairly safe to walk around.

Excellent place must visit rather would say stay at UMLAHNGA Beach as better crowd and much cleaner shore and excellent beach. Also Gateway theatre of shopiing the biggest mall around so must visit.

The service,the food-Excellent!!! One of the best experiences. The staff were also extremely friendly and were on the ball at all times.

We just spent a few hours on the beach and enjoyed it. Bathing was difficult on that particular day because of the drift. Nevertheless, beach as well as facilities (showers and toilets) were clean.
