Really enjoyed everything about this little adventure, from the great narrative boat ride, the tractor ride to the amazing walk down. The views are incredible and if your lucky you will see some wildlife too.

After reading the reviews on here before our trip to South Africa to help my Mother and Father in law move house, we had this on our list as something to do while we were there. From arriving at the Cruise Cafe to book the trip the service and welcome was excellent.
We boarded the boat that was taking us...

enjoyable cruise over the lagoon to reach the nature reserve followed by a trailer ride to the headland then a wonderful (but beware a bit steep and rocky in parts) walk back down to a wonderful buffet lunch in the restaurant - a most enjoyable and relaxing day out
I have been on the Featherbed cruise many times, in my role as tour guide accompanying foreign tour groups. On the Featherbed experience, there are English speaking local guides who take care of all visitors, and they do an excellent job. A 30 minute boat trip across to the private nature reserve, a trip up a hill in a wagon...

A Paddle Steamer Cruise on the Knysna lagoon towards the ultimate hike up towards the Heads. It's a tourists dream come true in terms of the beauty and calm waters of the Lagoon. Once you reach the Featherbed Reserve, you have a choice of a paying lunch once back from the hike down the top of the lookout of Eastern...

We greatly enjoyed our hiking and dining experiences, with spectacular views and a wealth of information about the area from our guide Debbie, but we were distressed to see the Blue Cranes locked up in cages. As a nature reserve, we expected to see all of the animals free in their environment. We understand for their safety that at night...

Hi Megan
Thank you for your comment, it is valued but please do note the cage for the blue cranes (Anthropoides paradiseus) is open during the day for them to move freely in and out and they go as they please. Their food and water is kept inside the cage and the cranes (affectionately known as William & Jenny) will...

A must do trip for a visitor to Knysna. Have lunch at the Cruise Cafe, board the Paddle Steamer and enjoy drinks while cruising the Lagoon to the Featherbed Nature Reserve, where you disembark and walk in a group around the edges of the Lagoon to see the views of the Heads and then maybe take the tractor ride to...

One gets an ideal view of Knysna's best scenery and a fabulous South African lunch. Perhaps it has become a little pricey, but they often run afternoon trips where you do not have the expense of the meal
The views are really stunning, and I prefer it there, overlooking the trees/rocks/ocean from the top of the Kysna head, as well as the flat stretch on the return, with the beautiful water, compared to the view from the town/harbor area.
The ferry ride, drive up the hill, and the walk down were all beautiful and kept the experience interesting,...

We went on the Featherbed Eco Experience trip in March 2013. The trip on the ferry to and from the reserve is pleasant, taking you past Thesens's Island and Leisure Island. We were then taken up the hill on an open trailer and dropped off at the top. The walk down, through the Reserve was beautiful, taking in fabulous views...
