Amazing to think this place was actually settled as a town! The views are quite impressive! We were lucky to get some clear weather and really take it in...
If this is the end of the world then I want to be there! Beauty abounds here. As you walk the town you will see the rugged mountains to the upside and Beagle Bay to the downside of the streets and in between there is lots of color. I am reminded of Norway or Alaska in its early days. We... More
Feels like you have arrived at the ‘end of the world’ however, once we sailed into Ushuaia Bay it became clear to us that this is a thriving enclave and not some remote outpost whereby ships are the only means to get supplies in. However, this built up town is a welcome sight after rounding the Horn, sailing the stunning... More
Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the world. It has a rugged charm about it that makes one want to find out more about its history and the surrounding land and sea. The people are hearty and their lifestyle is simple -- not unlike the geographical area surrounding them. A visit to Ushuaia is worth putting on your agenda if... More
For Nordic ski lovers Ushuaia is the best possible place on earth with its fascinating addition to being the last inhabited place on the continent prior to Antarctica. Good organization, lots of snow and fantastic lamb roast fueguinos. Tierra Mayor is a fascinating restaurant and accommodation are preparing. The march are 21 km of ski through more southernmost forests on... More
Wow ! This is one place with beautiful lakes and snow capped mountains ! So beautiful with fresh air to breathe in........ It is with all the long hours of flying to Ushuaia. The skiing in Cerro Castor is amazing, very much like a private Ski centre with no lines for chair lifts, staff helping to wear ski shoes and... More
Even though we were on a 30 something day cruise around South America we had booked a boat trip around Ushuaia Bay and the Beagle Channel. Our ship anchored off Ushuaia early on a beautiful cloudless morning and we were treated to one of the most amazing sunrises we have ever seen, with the rising sun firstly illuminating the snow... Ushuaia is notorious for its bay and the boats that dock here to pick up people to go to Antarctica. It has a majestic vibe to it. I had spent a couple of hours walking along the bay. It is also a great place just to relax.
The views of the city of Ushuaia in the early morning light were wonderful. It was also handy to hide in during the night before we had to face the Gales of Drakes Passage.
Ushuaia and the Ushuaia bay are a wonderful place, snowy mountains going directly into the sea. It's a wild, untamed nature - beautiful in every way. Take a walk or excursion, enjoy the calm and authentic place.
